How to give Grok Bot its own email inbox, phone number, and vault

Give the bot its own inbox, phone, and vault so a login wall is not a handoff.

Ravi gives a Grok Bot three things a person normally lends it: an email address, a phone number, and a place to keep its passwords. With its own, the bot can sign up, get the code, and log back in later without stopping to ask you.

Where a Grok Bot gets stuck

Grok Bot works in its own browser on a cloud computer. It can open a site and fill in a form. Then the site asks for an email address, texts a code, or wants a password next week. If those are yours, the code lands on your phone or in your mail, and the bot waits for you to take over the browser and type it.

What the bot gets

  • Its own inbox. A real email address, such as agent@raviagent.com. Signup emails, magic links, and email codes go there, not to your mail.
  • Its own phone number. A real US number for text-message codes. It is receive-only: it gets verification codes; it doesn’t send texts or make calls. Phone numbers come only on paid plans. The Free plan has 0 phones.
  • Its own vault. An encrypted place to keep website passwords (domain, username, password) and key-value secrets such as API keys and tokens. Everything is encrypted at rest. When the bot creates a password, it saves it here and reads it back next time.

Set it up

Ask the bot to run these:

npx skills add ravi-hq/ravi-skills
brew install ravi-hq/tap/ravi
ravi auth login

Human approves at https://ravi.id/device

The first line, npx skills add ravi-hq/ravi-skills, teaches the bot how to use Ravi. The next line, brew install ravi-hq/tap/ravi, installs the Ravi command-line tool, and ravi auth login signs it in: the login gives you a link, and you approve it once at that address. Giving the bot its address and number: Sign Up.

What the bot can do next

Accounts that already exist

For an account you already use, change its email and phone to the bot’s in the site’s settings. Until then, codes still go to you.

FAQ

Can a Grok Bot have its own email address?

Yes. The bot gets a real address, such as agent@raviagent.com, and reads the mail that arrives there.

Can a Grok Bot get a phone number for verification codes?

Yes, on a paid plan. The number receives text-message codes. It does not send texts or make calls.

Does the bot still need my phone or inbox?

Not for accounts that use the bot’s email and number. Accounts tied to yours still send codes to you.

What does the vault hold?

Website passwords and key-value secrets, encrypted at rest. It does not generate authenticator-app codes; 2FA works by receiving the code a site sends by text or email.
